The decision comes after Gauteng education MEC Panyaza Lesufi intervened.

Lesufi had given the school until 13:00 on Friday to take decisive action against teacher Keith Arlow.

He had been found guilty of racism, but remained in his post at the school causing a major public outcry.

Gauteng education spokesperson Steve Mabona says Lesufi is pleased with the school management's decision.

"Moving forward we will make sure we monitor anything that happens in the independent school environment."

Arlow had been found guilty on three charges including contravening the South African Council of Educator's (SACE) Code of Conduct, making racist and derogatory statements and for bringing the school into disrepute.

Lesufi has also announced that the department has met with representatives from the Independent Schools Association of South Africa (ISASA) representatives to discuss issues facing private schools.

It was agreed a summit would take place in September to address issues such as racism and school fees.
