Stage 4 power cuts to be implemented until Thursday
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
Eskom says it will implement stage 4 load shedding on Tuesday from 10am until Thursday at 5am.
The rolling blackouts are expected to continue over the weekend.
Eskom says stage 4 had to be implemented after three units at the Kendal Power Station tripped.
On Monday the power utility briefed the media on the reasons for the latest round of blackouts, which began on Friday.
Eskom COO Jan Oberholzer described a series of breakdowns at the country's power stations over the past week as "disastrous," saying that since last Monday some 42 generating units have since tripped.
Oberholzer said they will ramp up planned maintenance during the summer and confirmed that there will be sporadic load shedding during the summer months.
