Storm hits Western Cape

The severe cold front is expected to affect the Western Cape today as a storm hit the province last night.
The SA Weather Service says heavy rain and flash flooding are expected in places over the western parts of the Western Cape, in areas such as the Cape Metropole, Cape Winelands and Overberg on Wednesday into Thursday morning.
"Thunderstorms may also develop during Wednesday, particularly towards the afternoon and evening, over the western and central parts of the Western Cape," says the weather service.
"These thunderstorms may become severe, producing heavy downpours with chances of hail."

Possible light snowfalls are also expected on the peaks of the mountains in the Eastern Cape on Thursday.
According to the weather service, the cold front will be moving across the central interior such as the Free State, the southern parts of KwaZulu-Natal and North-West. It is expected to reach Gauteng by late afternoon on Thursday, when temperatures will start dropping significantly
