At least one person has been killed as a result of last night's severe weather conditions in KwaZulu-Natal.
Emergency Medical Services says the victim sustained fatal injuries while walking in Empangeni - on the north coast.
"Several people were walking along the road when the wind blew a tree over which landed on electricity cables," says EMS spoksperson Robert Mckenzie.
He says paramedics also treated one person who sustained serious injuries and another who sustained minor injuries.
Five other people were injured in the Durban CBD when roof collapsed.
Gale force winds dealt a devastating blow to parts of the province with wind gusts of up to 65km/ hour - uprooting trees and blowing roofs off buildings.
