Police have arrested a man after a 40-year-old police
officer was killed at a funeral in Dobsonville, Soweto south of Johannesburg on
Saturday.

Provincial police spokesperson, Mavela Masondo, says the suspect fired shots into the air during a funeral service for another South African Police Service (SAPS) officer.
The bullet then struck the female constable in her upper body.
"She was rushed to the hospital and sadly was declared dead on arrival. The man was arrested immediately, and his firearm confiscated," says Masondo.
