Streets near
the Pretoria Magistrates' Court have been closed from 8 am on Thursday morning,
ahead of the appearance of a suspect in a prominent rape case.
The 20-year old Nicholas Ninow has been charged with raping a young girl in a bathroom cubicle at the Silverton Dros last month.
He is expected to plead on Thursday.
The case has caused an emotional outcry, with various rights organisations, as well as political parties and child protection activists are expected to once again picket outside the Court ahead of and during his appearance.
Tshwane Metro Police spokesperson Isaac Mahamba says Metro Police and Police will once again monitor the situation in front of the Court building, as well as on Church Square.
