At least three marches are expected in Cape Town, with thousands of students protesting outside the parliamentary precinct, demanding that Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan allocate more funding to higher education.
Gordhan is expected to deliver the much anticipated medium-term budget at 2.00pm amid ongoing protests on campuses across the country.
