Students protest in Alexandra
Students and health workers' union Nehawu are protesting at the Central Johannesburg College in Alexandra.
Police spokesperson Kay Makhubela says the reason for the protest is not yet known.
Makhubela says the protestors have blocked London Road and 13th Avenue.
"The police are on scene to monitor the situation. No arrests or injuries have been reported. We are enforcing our members to make sure the situation is normalised," says Makhubela.
Johannesburg Metro Police Department spokesperson Wayne Minnaar says the protest is affecting traffic from Lombardy travelling to the M1.
"Motorists are advised to drive with caution as there are burning tyres and rocks that have been placed on the road," says Minnaar.
