Summons of arrest for Mdluli's lawyer
Updated | By Lonwabo Miso
A summons has been issued by the Pretoria Magistrate's Court for the arrest of Ike Motloung, the lawyer of former crime intelligence boss Lt-Gen Richard Mdluli, the Beeld reported on Friday.
Motloung failed to appear at court on Thursday for the second time, it said.
He was sued by the State to give testimony against three senior advocates from the National Prosecuting Authority.
NPA deputy head Nomgcobo Jiba, the head of the national specialised commercial crime unit Lawrence Mrwebi and the North Gauteng Director of Public Prosecutions Sibongile Mzinyathi have been charged with perjury by the Hawks.
The Hawks want Motloung to hand over the letter he received from Mrwebi which states that the case against Mdluli had been permanently withdrawn, the publication reported.
He was also required to give an affidavit stating when he received the letter.
Motloung reportedly informed prosecutor Jan Ferreira that he planned to approach the Pretoria High Court to review the summons.
