Sunday Independent sticks to its guns on latest Diko story
Updated | By Gaopalelwe Phalaetsile
The Sunday Independent will not back down on claims that the Gauteng Department of Health paid R80 million to a company owned by the husband of President Cyril Ramaphosa’s spokesperson Khusela Diko.

The newspaper reported on Sunday that Ikumkani Madzikane II Thandiswe Diko's company Royal Bhaca Projects, which has been at the center of the corruption scandal, was paid by the department for personal protective equipment.
Diko had initially said his company did not receive any payment despite work being done.
A letter was sent on Monday, by lawyers representing Diko, demanding that the paper retract the allegations.

"These false and untested allegations are deliberate and aimed at mobilising vicious public views against our clients with the sole aim of tarnishing their dignity.”
Mbabane Madwazi and Mkosana INC attorneys have given the paper 24 hours to retract the story.
We stand by our story. We have no intention to retract and apologise. Mr Thandisizwe Diko and Mrs @KhuselaS are free to proceed with any legal action, if they so wish. And we are ready to prove our case. pic.twitter.com/QzpzSlOgbR
