Sunette Viljoen ready for Olympic final

South African javelin champion, Sunette Viljoen had no trouble in qualifying for the finals at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games earlier today.

She qualified with a distance of 63,54 meters in her first attempt.


"I felt so relaxed and my throw was very nice and I enjoyed it," she said after qualifying.


She added that when the javelin left her grip, she knew it had been a great attempt.


"I was happy with my performance," Sunette said.


About Sunette:


The athlete won gold at the Commonwealth Games and African Championships and she also made one Women's Test cricket and 17 Women's One Day International appearances for South Africa between 2000 and 2002.

At the 2013 World Championships in Athletics, which was held in Moscow, Russia Viljoen took only the 6th place with a mark of 63.58 meters.


In 2014 she placed second at the Commonwealth Games and later that year she won the African Championships with a result of 65.32m.


She won a silver medal, coming in second to Israel's Marharyta Dorozhon, at the IAAF Diamond League Bislett Games in Oslo, Norway, on 11 June 2015.
