A 32-year-old suspect has been shot dead in a shootout with the police, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The incident happened at a complex in Brits, North West.
Police spokesperson Katlego Mogale says law enforcement officers were following up on information about a suspect who allegedly killed Sgt. Leka Maja in Mamelodi a week ago.
"Upon arrival at the identified address, the team was met with gunfire and a shootout ensued wherein the suspect was fatally wounded," says Mogale.
A search of the premises was conducted and an unlicensed firearm, ammunition (handgun and rifle) were recovered.
