Gauteng police have arrested several suspects in connection with a robbery at the Eldorado Park Post Office.
A suspect linked to the robbery of the local post office, south of Johannesburg, was allegedly shot and killed by the police.
Gauteng police say they managed to arrest three suspects on Monday in Klipspruit in Soweto following the business robbery earlier that day.
“A group of five men went into a post office in Eldorado Park where they robbed them of an undisclosed amount of cash. They panicked and started shooting at the police,” says police spokesperson Kay Makhubele.
Makhubele says the suspects fled the scene.
“The police followed them until Klipspruit West where there also was a shootout. One suspect is still at large.”
Three unlicensed firearms and cash, believed to have been stolen, were recovered.
