Suspected Limpopo ATM bombers arrested

A gang of suspects, who have been targeting ATMs in the Limpopo, have been arrested in Gauteng.

In a statement on Thursday the Limpopo Department for Transport and Community Safety stated that the suspects were arrested in various locations across Gauteng.
The group had been targeting cash machines in the Sekhukhune, Capricorn and Mopani Districts.
On Tuesday, the group numbed an ATM at Ga-Mashashane, outside Polokwane, where there was a shootout with security guards.
The group was arrested during a joint operation with the South African Police Services various units.
The suspects were found with stained cash, three firearms, explosives and a vehicle that was used to commit these crimes.
Community Safety MEC Florence Radzilani said: “By capturing these dangerous criminals, the Police have sent a strong message to other potential criminals. These arrests should serve as an example, that the Limpopo Province can never be a playground and a haven for criminals.”
