Suspected robber shot dead
A man was shot dead and three others arrested after a armed robbery of a shop in Johannesburg, Metro police said.
Johannesburg Metro Police Department spokesperson Wayne Minnaar said the incident occurred in Doornfotein.
“Officers were directing traffic at Siemert Rd.and Error Road when they heard gun shots and as they observed the situation they saw several men running in their direction.”
Minnaar said a member of the community told them that there had been men who had allegedly robbed a shop close by and then gave a description of the men.
It emerged that one of the robbers was shot dead by a security guard at the scene.
“Officers chased and caught one of the men as he was trying to jump into a get away grey Quantum and he had a firearm with him.”
The second man was caught on Siveright and Moseley street and the third man was caught inside the shop.
Minnaar said two illegal fire arms were recovered.
