Suspects rob petrol station, wound police officer
Police in Gauteng are looking for six suspects who allegedly shot and wounded a police officer at Crystal Park this morning.
Police spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubela says it is alleged that six suspects robbed a petrol station at about 2:35am this morning.
"A suspect pointed a firearm at a petrol attendant. The other suspects placed an explosive in the drop safe and the ATM exploded," says Makhubela.
Makhubela says shots were fired when police responded.
"Police officers who were passing by, responded and the suspects started shooting at the police. One officer was shot and injured on the lower body," says Makhubela.
Makhubela says the suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.
"The police officer was taken to hospital. He is in a stable condition," says Makhubela.
