Taxi driver arrested for assault

A taxi driver was arrested for punching a metro police officer over a fine in Langlaagte on Monday, Johannesburg metro police said.

   

Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said the taxi was pulled over after driving over orange beacons placed on the road to alleviate peak hour traffic.

   

The officer was punched by the driver while fining him.

   

Minnaar said the two wrestled before the man was arrested.
