North West police say the body of a taxi driver has been discovered in his vehicle on the N12.
The man’s body was found in his car on Sunday evening.
“We are searching for unknown suspects who allegedly shot and killed a 48-year-old taxi driver who was driving from Klerksdorp back to Johannesburg on Sunday evening,” says police spokesperson Amanda Funani.
Funani says the 48-year-old man was found in his taxi by another taxi driver on the same route.
“The victim's taxi was spotted along the road with hazard lights on by a fellow taxi driver who was also driving back to Johannesburg, and went to check. Upon checking, he found the driver lying in a pool of blood. He also realised that the vehicle's windows were shattered.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim had what appeared to be gunshot wounds on the upper body. The motive for the killing is still unknown and investigation into the matter continues.”
