Santaco members have barricaded roads since 2.00am on Thursday morning.

The protest action comes ahead of their march to the South African Taxi Finance offices in Midrand.

Santaco says some members have been hit hard by high interest rates and blacklisting due to difficulties and delays in paying off vehicles.

"We can't take it anymore," says Santaco's Ralph Jones.

Santaco plans on handing over a memorandum to the directors of the company.

Roads leading to Midrand have been completely closed

The N1 between Brakfontein and Allandale is also affected, as well as routes in Johannesburg and north of Pretoria.

Gautrain services have also been affected due to employees being unable to get to various stations.

Trains are running, but there is no bus service.
