Teacher, pupils speak about impact of KZN's sanitary towel initiative
Updated | By Puseletso Petersen
A teacher from a school in Inanda has spoken of the difference the KZN Education Department's sanitary towel initiative has made in the lives of scholars.

Miss Thabethe from Nkosinathi High School says many girls at the school are disadvantaged and miss several days of school every month due to a lack of or no access to feminine hygiene products.
The department has set aside R50 million rand for the programme, which will help learners in Grade 4 to 12, in almost 3000 selected quintile 1-4 schools across the province.

She says department officials delivered the sanitary towels to their school yesterday.
"As a school, we are very honoured to have received such from the government. It's a great initiative especially because most of our children come from disadvantaged homes and they do become absent at least for three days in a month. This initiative will really help girls who want to come to school and learn," she says.
Speaking to Newswatch, these pupils have also shared their thoughts on the initiative.
