‘Teddy Mafia’: Durban community shaken by triple murder
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Residents of Shallcross in Durban say they've been left traumatised by Monday's triple murder that sent shockwaves across KwaZulu-Natal.
Yaganathan Pillay - an alleged drug-lord who was known as ‘Teddy Mafia’ - was shot at his home.
He later died in hospital.
Police say some community members avenged their 62-year-old neighbour's murder and killed the alleged shooters.
Gruesome footage of the incident's been widely shared on social media and WhatsApp.

Les Govender, who lives in the area, says yesterday was a sad day for the entire community.
"Some community members did intervene and assaulted two people that were involved in that incident. Why they did it and to what extent they were responsible for the eventual outcome? We cannot say.
"But from what we know is that they were residents of that area and maybe they responded at that time in the manner that they did because of what they saw in terms of the shooting of one of their neighbours and it is unfortunate that it took such a gruesome turn."
