Teen attempts suicide after sex list goes viral
A young girl in Atlantis in the Western Cape has attempted suicide after her name appeared on a sex list.
The list has been distributed widely on social media.
The Western Cape Social Development Department says at least 31 young girls have been named and ranked on this list.
The list has exposed the teenagers to cyber-bullying.
Spokesperson Sihle Ngobese says the Department is offering the teens counselling.
"Our social workers will work with their colleagues from the education department in order to find all the affected children who are mostly girls and to render urgent trauma counselling and pyscho-social support," says Ngobese.
He says this is a case of cyber bullying and the department is not taking the matter lightly.
