Limpopo Health MEC, Dr Phophi Ramathuba has called on sectors of the society to address the prevailing issue of teenage mothers.

"The department recognizes the increase in teenage mothers with 29 recorded in 2024 compared to 28 in 2023, emphasizing the importance of addressing the societal issues.
"The MEC says while reveling in the joy of the New Year, we remain concerned about the increasing number of teenage mothers," said MEC spokesperson Thilivhali Muavha.
This came after the provincial department confirmed that a total of 199 babies were delivered on the first day of 2024.
The new babies comprised 100 boys and 99 girls.
This is an increase of 6 overall babies born in 2024 as compared to the previous year, 2023.
Over 400 babies were delivered on 1 January 2024 throughout the country.
