Teenager raped, killed in FState
A teenage girl was raped and killed in Thabong, near Welkom, on Thursday Free State police said.
"Thabong police are investigating a horrendous case docket where a 14-year-old girl was raped and killed in Thabong on Thursday," said Warrant Officer Malebo Khosana.
The incident happened at 2am.
The girl was sleeping at her 16-year-old boyfriend's house when they were surprised by three armed intruders. The boy's brother, 14, was also sleeping.
"They demanded money and in the process two of them searched the house while one raped the 14-year-old girl."
They took money, a DVD player, cellphones and shoes and allegedly attacked the brothers with a panga before leaving the scene.
"However, the suspects returned within a few minutes and asked the young girl if she knows them. Her answer was 'no' to their question but the one holding a firearm shot her in the head and she died instantly."
The three suspects are still at large. A case of murder, rape, and robbery was being investigated.
