Teenager shot after stealing father's firearm

A Soweto teenager was shot and injured when he allegedly tried to rob a shop in Molapo, Soweto, Gauteng police said.

"The boy was shot by security guards while he was allegedly trying to rob a shop in Molapo on Tuesday," said police spokesman Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela.
He said the 17-year-old boy allegedly stole his father's firearm.
"He is under police guard at Chris Baragwanath hospital and will appear at the Protea Magistrate's Court soon," said Makhubela.
He will face charges of business robbery and theft of a firearm.
Makhubela said the boy's father might be charged for neglecting his firearm.
