Teens granted bail in the Thoriso Themane case

The seven minors accused of the murder of Thoriso Themane were granted bail of R2 000 each in the Polokwane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

They are part of a group of nine - including two adults - linked to the death of the 27-year-old - who was assaulted and left for dead in February.
A video depicting Themane’s killing went viral, showing the deceased being dragged by a group of teenagers after being assaulted at Flora Park in Polokwane.

Another video appeared later showing one of the alleged assailants bragging that nothing will happen to him since his father is a police officer.
Spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in Limpopo, Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, says the bail does come with conditions.
"The state didn't oppose bail. However, conditions of release on bail are accused should move out of the Polokwane District Municipality today until the matter is finalised, the accused should enter the school they attended at the beginning of the year or any other school in the Polokwane are and lastly the accused should be arrested for committing any offence of violence is the element of the offence committed."
The matter has been remanded until May 31 where they are going to join the adult accused.
