Updated | By Cliff Shiko
Five people have been stoned to death in a suspected mob attack in Rabie Ridge, Tembisa.
Gauteng police say angry community members killed the five young men in the early hours of Monday morning.
They were accused of being behind a spate of crimes in the community of Kanana, east of Johannesburg.
Gauteng police spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said residents went from house to house searching for the suspects.
"Police attended to a complaint of murder at Marogoro Street in Rabie Ridge. Five men were found dead. The suspicion is that they were stoned to death by community members.
"No one has been arrested. A case of murder with five counts is opened for further investigations. The public is urged not to take the law into their own hands as this also constitutes a crime."
