Third consecutive fuel price hike announced
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
South Africans will have to brace themselves for the third consecutive fuel price hike.
The price increase comes into effect on Wednesday.
The Department of Energy announced the new fuel prices on Monday.
Motorists will fork out 25 cents more for a litre of 93 octane petrol - while 95 octane petrol will cost 29 cents more a litre.
The price of diesel is up by 42c/l, while paraffin will cost 52 cents extra per litre.
The energy department blamed fluctuations in the oil price for the increases.
Department spokesperson Robert Maake says: "The main reason for the increase is the higher oil prices. The exchange rate appreciated against the dollar which was able to cushion the prices by 4 cents a litre."
