Third water pipe burst leaves JHB northern suburbs dry

A third water pipe burst in Johannesburg has left several suburbs in north of the city without water on Wednesday.
Water supply entity Joburg water said a 750mm pipe burst at West and 3rd Avenue in Houghton on Tuesday.
“We will be closing water between 08H00am and 5pm on Wednesday to repair the pipe. The team is going to weld round the pipe, and it would take the whole day. We urge residents to store water to to avoid inconveniences,” Johannesburg Water said in a statement.
The affected surburbs included Hyde Park, Parktown North, Parkwood, Greenside, Parkhurst, Rosebank, Killarney and Houghton Estate.
The latest pipe burst is the third in two weeks.
