Three arrested for state property damages, public violence

Three men have been arrested in connection with a violent community protest in Dullstroom, that resulted in the damage of South African Police Service (SAPS) vehicles, and interference with police duties.

The suspects aged 18, 34, and 43 were arrested on Friday night by the Dullstroom SAPS and the Middelburg Public Order Policing (POP) unit.
This after the 18- and 34-year-olds allegedly led a community protest on Thursday, stoning three police vehicles.
A 43-year-old man was also arrested for interfering with police duties and threatening officers at the station.
"While the pair were being processed at the station, a 43-year-old man arrived and began intimidating officers, demanding to know why more arrests were not made despite additional individuals having participated in the unrest", the police statement read.
"He was immediately detained for obstructing police operations. Investigators continue to trace other participants seen in footage throwing stones at police vehicles."
The suspects are expected to appear before the Belfast Magistrate’s Court on charges of public violence, malicious damage to state property, and, in the 43-year-old’s case, interference with police duties.
