Three Mpumalanga municipalities left in the dark
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The power was cut to three municipalities in Mpumalanga this morning, after they failed to pay outstanding Eskom debt.
Govan Mbeki, Dipaleseng and Thaba Chweu owe Eskom a combined R900 million.
Eskom spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe says the municipalities will be without power between 06:00 and 8:00 am.
"Unfortunately our efforts to come into an amicable settlement with them never materialised and this morning we had to cut off power supply", says Phasiwe.

Phasiwe says if the three municipalities do not produce payments by this afternoon, the power will be interrupted again in the early evening.
"If no payment is made between 8:00 this morning and 16:30 this afternoon and no agreement reached, then it means that at 17:00 we will interrupt their power supply again", says Phasiwe.
