Three shot, cars torched in Mpumalanga tavern rampage

Police in Mpumalanga are searching for a suspect who shot and killed one person and wounded two others during a fight at a local tavern in Hazyview.
The armed man apparently went on rampage at the tavern in the early hours of Monday morning.
“The armed man allegedly shot three people,” says Mpumalanga police spokesperson Selvy Mohlala.
“One died on the spot (and) the other two were taken to hospital after sustaining some injuries.”

According to Mohlala, a scuffle broke out between four men in a tavern at Shabalala Trust.
“One of the men is said to have then fired some shots at the other three men as well as torched two vehicles before he fled the scene.
“As a result, one succumbed to his injuries whilst two victims sustained gunshot wounds and they were taken for medical treatment in hospital.”
Mohala says police opened a murder case with two counts of attempted murder and arson.
“A manhunt has since been launched for the suspect and prt of the investigation will be to determine whether the owner of the liqour outlet was operating lawfully or not.”
