Reacting to the Ashwin Willemse row, the party said the time had come for the sport "to be placed under quarantine" until it is ready to transform.

The ANC has come out in defence of Willemse, who walked off the SuperSport set on Saturday, accusing fellow analysts Nick Mallet and Nass Botha of having a patronising attitude towards him.

Spokesperson Yonela Diko says the time has come for the sport to transform.

"It appears that our commentators are there to just add colour and not insight.

"So if SA Rugby does not transform but not just in numbers but in management and the culture of the game, provision of quality facilities and coaching within black communities then we should consider putting rugby under quarantine until their ready to play international rugby again," he says.
