The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) has urged motorists and public transport drivers to be cautious on the roads as wet weather conditions are set to spread throughout the country.

RTMS says roads traveling was hindered in coastal provinces of Kwa-Zulu Natal, Eastern Cape and Western Cape following snow fall on Monday. Multiple collisions were reported in many parts of these provinces.
"Thunderstorms and rainy conditions are expected to spread inland from Tuesday to Thursday. The South African Weather Services is predicting severe thunderstorms with hail and heavy downpours over Gauteng in the coming days," RTMC said in a statement.
The RTMC warns motorists there may be delays on the roads as a results of rainy weather which generally tends to affect traffic lights and visibility.
Motorists are urged to:
- Keep lights on
- Increase following distances
- Reduce speed
- Travel earlier than normal to avoid delays.
- Avoid driving during thunderstorms and heavy downpours
