Tom Moyane has a week to state his case

President Cyril Ramaphosa has given Tom Moyane until next week Friday to explain why he should not be removed as SARS commissioner.

Spokesperson in the Presidency, Khusela Diko, says President Ramaphosa has written to Moyane asking him to make submissions on the interim recommendations by the Nugent Commission that Moyane be fired with immediate effect in an attempt to save the Revenue Service.
"Mr Moyane is given until the 26th of October to respond to the Oresident," says Diko.

Moyane's lawyer, Eric Mabuza, says it is illogical to remove Moyane while the Nugent commission is still underway.
Mabuza retains that retired judge Robert Nugent is overstepping his powers by making pronouncements on the employment of Moyane.
