The mother of a two-year-old Tongaat boy has described how difficult it was to watch her son suffer after being bitten by a rabid dog.
Jabu Mzimela has told Newswatch she was unable to help her youngest child before he died late last month after being bitten by a neighbour's dog.
Officials from the KZN Agriculture Department visited Mzimela at her Bhamshela home today.

"I got back home after he had been bitten by the dog, as I had been out to buy some food. When I got home he was just playing as usual. He seemed fine.
"The man from next door, whose dog it was, said I should go to the clinic to have him checked, but I was too ill and had no money. He was bitten on a Saturday and on Sunday afternoon he started foaming at the mouth and vomiting.
"His temperature shot through the roof and on Monday we called for an ambulance. At the hospital he died," she says.
