Top Cape Town cop Charl Kinnear shot dead outside home

Police in the Western Cape are in shock following the murder of top cop Charl Kinnear.
The 52-year old Kinnear was shot several times a few metres from his Cape Town home on Friday afternoon.
Provincial police spokesperson Novela Potelwa says further investigations are underway.

The bodies of 55-year-old Lizette and her 70-year-old mother Hettie were found with stab wounds in an abandoned vehicle on the R37 next to the Kushcke off-ramp last Sunday. This brings the total number of suspects to four. Limpopo police spokesperson Motlafela Mojapelo says the arrests are a major breakthrough for the case.
“Preliminary reports indicate that he was found in his vehicle shot several times in the upper body at 15:20. He was shortly thereafter declared dead by paramedics.
“The vehicle was a few metres from the deceased’s home in Bishop Lavis.”
A murder docket has been opened.
The Anti-Gang Unit investigator has investigated a number of high-profile cases in the Western Cape, including the extortion case of alleged Cape Town underworld figure Nafiz Modack.
