Traffic volumes increase after New Year's celebrations
Updated | By Lindiwe Mpanza
Travellers have begun making their way back home after the festive season, resulting in increased traffic congestion along major routes.

Police and traffic officials are on high alert in a bid to curb the number of fatalities on the country’s roads.
The N3 Toll Concession's Con Roux says traffic has been picking up rapidly since Thursday morning.
"There are currently about a thousand vehicles an hour from KwaZulu-Natal heading to Gauteng," says Roux.
"We are expecting this traffic pattern to remain for the rest of the day with elevated traffic levels."
Roux adds that heavy traffic is expected on Friday and Saturday.
