Transport department warns motorists ahead of Easter weekend

Transport authorities in Limpopo have vowed to clamp down on unroadworthy vehicles this Easter weekend.

Traffic authorities in the province conducted a roadblock on the N1 this morning as scores of motorists and passengers make their way to their various destinations.
Limpopo Transport MEC Mapula Mokaba-Phukwana said motorists who do not obey the rules of the road will find themselves facing the full might of the law.
"If a car is not roadworthy, we don't have any option but to impound the car. Some [motorists] are going to be arrested, some are going to be fined," she said.
Traffic volumes on N1 between Pretoria and Polokwane is expected to pick up on Thursday afternoon.
