Transport union threatens strike ahead of Easter long weekend

Workers in the passenger bus sector are threatening to down keys ahead of the long Easter weekend.

Transport workers' union Satawu says wage talks with the employer have deadlocked.
The workers are demanding a 15% salary hike and have rejected the employer's offer of 4.5%.
"The employer is also refusing to contribute towards the medicals aid. We are also saying that can't be fair, the employer needs to meet the worker halfway,” says the union’s Amanda Tshemese.
She says they've obtained a certificate on non-resolution and are preparing for a legal strike.
While they are aware of the inconvenience this might cause commuters she says they've been left with no choice.
"We tried by all means to avoid going to strike becuase it is going to inconvince thousands if not millions of people,” says Tshemese.
