'Trump lacks leadership qualities, temperament to lead US': Analyst
Updated | By Puseletso Petersen
Political analyst Imraan Buccuss says the exit of former US President Barack Obama could possibly have a negative effect on the socio-economic positioning of that country.
Obama gave his final speech as President earlier this week
Buccuss says newly-elected President Donald Trump does not have the leadership qualities that a progressive country requires.
"Quite clearly Obama has not been the best president, but he has been the president that people knew and have come to understand. In some ways, he represented progressive US," he said.
Buccuss believes that Trump lacks the temperament that Obama embodied during his tenure - which made him an amicable leader.
"I think Trump's election to the American presidency has in many ways been a political disaster, and he certainly hasn't shown the temperament for public office. And all of these things, Obama has done in some ways positively," he said.
Trump will be inaugurated as the 45th president of the US on 20 January.
