Tshwane announces 'maintenance partnership' with AfriForum
Updated | By Emile Pienaar
The City of Tshwane and AfriForum signed a memorandum on Monday that would see the lobby group assist the city with issues such as maintenance and community safety.

Mayor Cilliers Brink and the CEO of AfriForum Kallie Kriel cut the grass and renovated the Furman Park in Valhalla ahead of the announcement on Monday morning.
Brink said the partnership does not mean the city is abandoning the mission of building a capable state.
"This means that when people offer to help us to cut grass, to fix potholes, we are not going to reject that help.
“Instead, we are going to build a framework in which we can manage the potential risks because the biggest risk of all is just to do nothing or stick with the same approach and expect things to change.”
Kriel said AfriForum wants to make a positive contribution to society.
"That is why we have been for many years involved in local projects, fixing roads, cutting grass and refuse removal, and we want to expand that because people in local communities know best what is good for them
"This agreement with Tshwane allows us to expand on this. It creates a situation where we are not seen as an enemy but rather as a partner.
"We want to partner with local municipalities and government to make sure that we build better communities for our children," Kriel added.
