Tshwane to appeal Wonderboom ruling

The City of Tshwane will appeal the High Court in Pretoria’s ruling to suspend the services of Ntiyiso Consulting.

On Wednesday afternoon the court granted an interim interdict to the Wonderboom Airport Interested Group (WAIG) to halt services by Ntiyiso Consulting at the airport.

Last week the group of business owners at the airport took the city to court in a bid to have the recently appointed transactional advisory firm removed.

This follows growing fears that flights would be grounded due to safety concerns after the grass was left uncut.

The order now prohibits Ntiyiso Consulting from acting as airport manager in the interim.

In a statement, outgoing mayor Stevens Mogkalapa said while the office holds the court in high esteem they will be appealing.

"City of Tshwane Executive Mayor, Stevens Mokgalapa, looks forward to bringing finality to the matter.

"According to the court order, the City must suspend services rendered by a transactional advisory (Ntiyiso Consulting). Furthermore, the City must make undertake to appoint a new airport manager with 15 days.”

He adds that the decision to appeal is for the good of the airport.

"The decision to appeal is in the interests of restoring optimized operational capacity and profitability of Wonderboom Airport".
