Reports surfaced on Wednesday that Aucamp, who has 16 years of managerial experience, landed the R1.2-million per year job despite not having the required qualifications.

The city’s mayor, Solly Msimanga, was allegedly part of the panel that interviewed Aucamp ahead of her appointment.

But Tshwane spokesperson, Selby Bokaba, says Aucamp’s appointment "above board and the integrity of the appointment is beyond question".

"The chief of staff applied for a position. She was short listed, interviewed and she came out on top. Nothing wrong," Bokaba explains.

It has now emerged, however, that Aucamp claimed during her assessment to be in possession of a BTech degree, something that was not on her CV or job application form.

"It was during that process that it is alleged that Aucamp in filling a form claimed to be in possession of a BTech degree. When she applied for the position she did not mention anything about being in possession of a degree. Neither did she mention it in her CV, which states she has a matric certificate," Bokaba says.

Bokaba says the acting city manager, in consultation with Msimanga, have decided to place her on special leave until the investigation concludes.

"We are hoping the investigations will be able to verify whether or not she made that entry in the form."
