The Presidency announced last week that residents will need permits to enter their areas on Friday afternoon and Saturday, where streets will be closed for Saturday's ceremony at Loftus Versveld.

Metro police spokesperson Isaac Mahamba says they will be around Loftus until midday Friday for residents of Rietondale and those living around the stadium to collect the permits that will allow them to gain access to their properties during the inauguration.

"What we know at this stage it’s a quite a few that are still to come collect their permits. Most of the residents already received their permits and we have extended the stay at both venues. We'll be there up until 12 o'clock midday just to make sure that those who are still outstanding come collect their permits should do so.”

Mahamba says some residents have indicated that they are not in the province.

"They have indicated that they will be coming back today that is why we try and make sure that we cover everybody."

He adds that they will be on standby throughout Friday and Saturday to assist residents.
