Tshwane commuters targeted in anti-GBV, femicide campaign

The various law enforcement agencies in Gauteng engaged with women at Bosman Taxi Rank in Tshwane on Monday morning.

It formed part of the provincial government's campaign against gender-based violence and femicide.

 

Gauteng Traffic spokesperson Sello Maremane says the engagement is part of the build-up towards the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children.

 

"The aim is to encouraging female commuters to report all elements of gender-based violence and increasing economic empowerment of women in order to break the cycle of violence against this sector of the community.”

Guests robbed at Kempton Park lodge

Gauteng police spokesperson Kay Makhubele says the guests were robbed on Saturday evening. "It is alleged three armed suspects stormed into the lodge, forced open doors of 17 guestrooms and robbed guests of their cell phones and money."
