Tshwane EMS on high alert amid thunderstorm warning
Updated | By Mapaballo Borotho
Emergency services in Tshwane were on high alert on Friday amid warnings of possible disruptive rain in the city.
On Friday, the South African Weather Service issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms with possible strong winds, hail and excessive lighting.
Residents were warned the thunderstorms might lead to localised flooding of susceptible low-lying areas, informal settlements and susceptible roads.
Tshwane emergency services spokesperson Charles Mabaso called on residents to be cautious.
"If possible, stay indoors and away from metal objects. Avoid crossing flooded low-lying roads, bridges and swollen streams,” he urged.
