Tshwane given green light to attach Madibeng bank account
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The High Court in Pretoria has granted the City of Tshwane permission to attach the bank account of Madibeng municipality.

The city says the North West municipality owes R258m for the supply of bulk water.
Tshwane approached court after the municipality in Brits failed to honour its commitment to settle the account in instalments over a specific payment period.
City of Tshwane spokesperson Sipho Stuurman says the ruling will allow them to recoup the money.
“The attachment of Madibeng local municipality's bank account will enable the city to recoup the funds that we are owed, and this should assist the city to pay its creditors, like Rand Water, from which the city gets its bulk water supply.
“The city’s court application was aimed at enforcing the settlement of Madibeng local municipality's debt by attaching its bank account. The Madibeng municipality has continuously failed to attend to its payment obligations and the city is taking a zero-tolerance approach towards outstanding debtors.”
