Tshwane to launch road safety operations
Updated | By ANA
The Tshwane metro police department will on Monday launch its festive season road safety operations on the N1 highway in Wallmannsthal.

“These [road safety] operations focus on decreasing road accidents, fatalities, injuries, and road traffic offences in Tshwane during the festive season,” the city said in a statement.
The festive season operations would promote zero tolerance of road traffic offenses and criminal activities through ensuring high visibility and effective law enforcement.
With the intensified operational strength of officers and other road safety role players, commuters and motorists would observe high levels of visible policing, including regional and freeway policing.
The teams would monitor vehicle and driver fitness, speed law enforcement, driving under the influence of alcohol, and other driving transgressions, the city said.
Last year during the festive period more than 1 300 lives were lost in fatal accidents.
