Tshwane Metrorail services suspended due to Eskom debt
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
Metrorail in Gauteng has suspended its operations in Pretoria North after Eskom switched off electricity to the rail network.

The power utility switched off the power due to non-payment by passenger rail agency Prasa.
The affected areas include Mabopane - Pretoria service, Saulsville - Pretoria service, and Pienaarspoort - Pretoria service.
The disruption left thousands of commuters stranded on Tuesday morning.
Metrorail spokesperson Tony Games says the train services will not be operational until Prasa settles the debt with Eskom.
"Metrorail is currently experiencing power outages due to outstanding Eskom delayed payment which will affect all its rail operations in Gauteng North. Management regrets and apologises for this unfortunate situation.
“Commuters are encouraged to make their own alternative transport arrangements. Metrorail will announce in due course the return of the train services in the north."
